Kindle Fire 3rd Gen HD
I don't quite know where to start about this amazing device. It's a definite step up from the 1st gen Kindle Fire , however, the "experts" suggest if you already own a 2nd Gen Kindle Fire HD stay with it. The 3rd gen doesn't offer a camera , so no Skype.
We bought it because it was on sale for $113 ( Thanks FAA) dollars, we came in just 5 mins before closing time on Amazon, and we wanted an actual Kindle Fire HD!
I've been playing around with it, discovered that I really want the next leg up HDX ( 64 GB WiFi); the device technically isn't mine , I get to use it the most, because I'm not visually-impaired. My sis. Ka'at ,is legally blind and has become quite frustrated in trying to use the KF HD 3rd gen even with the Screen Reader Touch Tutorial.
She does have a "device" to listen to Audible audio books, Braille Institute Books, mp3s, and podcasts that I transload from the Internet onto an SDHC memory card for her device.
The 1st gen Victor Reader Stream has a lot of buttons and she's had many hours of enjoyment with it; we recently suggested to an IT relative who gave me a Win7 laptop, that perhaps, he could cough up the money to buy Ka'at the Victor Reader Stream 2 ( it has Internet capabilities). It has taken us 3 months to finally get that blasted thing online.
To say that the Kindle Fire 3rd Gen HD is a disappointment is an understatement; no we're not gonna sell it , perhaps, Amazon will fix the problem. No, we're not holding our collective breathe . I can experiment with it.
Victor Reader Stream 2 is for the visually-impaired and dyslexic . . .actually anyone can use it.
I understand that the iPod dances rings around KF HD 3rd Gen , but we don't have that kind of mula and nobody has a dolla to play the lottery, at the moment.
