Desktop LockDown ?
In light of the recent spat of info about NSA spying and breaches of security in various credit card scams including Target's Black Friday, and MicroSoft et al taking out Bot-nets . ..why do I need to have security ( password) to my PC?
Why have a password before logging on if everybody and their mother can come in via the backdoor?
Everybody from KeyLoggers to Drive-By-Swipe-Info Popups via "supposedly" secure banking websites can access one's device and plant Trojans, and other nasty stuff .. all the while staring at you via your webcam ; they can't see via electrical tape , can they?
My point in the question is based on just recently having to restart my PC ,because of a glitch annoyance involving my audio winder not closing and blocking me view of a small portion of Desktop, and I had to sign in with password before accessing my User side of the PC.
I thought having to use a pw on the guest side of the PC was to protect one from "monsters" on the other side of the Internet. .and of course, nosy relatives/friends; if all one needs is ISP # to finagle with someone's PC ( botnet / put porno on it) then what is the point of having it?
Don't mind me I'm just griping about having to remember my pw to log-in to my guest pc . . .different of course from Admin.

The windows login password is mainly to protect users on your local network only not from anything on the actual internet. For that you need 3 things.
1 Antivirus
2. Anti Spyware
3 A Good 2 Way Firewall
But even lately that isn't enough so my advice is a good VPN from a trusted source. A VPN will encrypt your information using government grade encryption so even if someone is able to sniff the packets, the information will be useless without un encryption keys.
It sucks but what can ya do?

Thanks, I was actually just ramble ranting, meant to come back and put the /rant after it.
Hope yesterday was pleasant for you and yours? Ours was quiet and I was well for a change.
