Movie Review - World War Z
Where to start with this one. Basically the story is Brad Pitt plays a retired United Nations Special Forces operative that has seen action from Darfur to Somalia. After his mission in Darfur, he retires to spend more time with his family and to heal from his experiences. On a trip to the city, they are trapped in a massive traffic jam with no explanation. Upon investigation, Pitt discovers that people are trying to get away from zombies who are feeding on people and turning them into more zombies. Pitt and family escape and they are picked up by U.N. forces who promise them shelter offshore in exchange for Pitt leading the investigation on the source of the infestation and a possible way to cure or end it.
My 1st impression was here we go again with yet another zombie movie. Between I Am Legend, Sean Of The Dead, and Zombieland, we have seen this genre played to death. Don't get me wrong, all 3 films were great in their way but I honestly went into this figuring it would be the same old thing. Plus the fact that Brad Pitt is really not one of my favorite actors lead me to think I probably would not enjoy this movie. I was wrong.
The story, from start to end, is non stop action. Pitt does a great job in his role and really makes you root for him and the supporting cast is great as well. The story is intelligent and the pacing is wonderful. You won't be able to take your eyes off this one. The movie is violent and somewhat gory so you may want to keep the small kids from this one.
All in all, this is a movie that will keep you glued to your seats and when it's over you'll leave satisfied. A very good movie.
